Award nominated costume designer, Derica Cole Washington, presents a distinct perspective and visual voice for presenting characters. From script to screen, her approach to design is focused on visualizing the story and composing the dressed body on screen. Her multimedia experience spans film, television, and commercials.

Derica’s most recent work can be seen in the viral twitter story A24 film Zola garnering a Costume Designers Guild Award nomination for Excellence in Contemporary Costumes, Hulu’s legal drama series Reasonable Doubt produced and directed by Kerry Washington, Netflix’s mini series drama True Story starring Kevin Hart and Welsey Snipes and Lena Waithe’s comedy series Twenties. Additionally, she has designed three consecutive Super Bowl commercials.

Derica earned her M.A. in Visual Culture: Costume Studies from New York University and B.A. in Art History and History. Derica's academic background in art history, visual culture, and costume studies provides her with a nuanced and profound understanding of her craft, enabling her to approach each project with depth and sophistication.

As an avid art enthusiast, Derica's love for the aesthetic world serves as the foundation of her engagement and ability to discover and create visual chemistry that elevates every project she undertakes.
